Recently, some customers asked us what are soft magnets and hard magnets, but they don't know the difference between them. Today, Tongli Xiaochen, a magnet manufacturer in Dongguan, came to give everyone a detailed introduction.
1. What is a soft magnet? What is a hard magnet?
Magnets can be divided into soft magnets and hard magnets. It is soft magnetism that is easy to demagnetize after magnetization. Soft magnetism is also very easy to demagnetize. Hard magnetism is not easy to demagnetize. In other words, the remanence of hard magnetism is large, and the remanence of soft magnetism is small.
2. What is the main soft magnet? In which areas do they use more?
Soft magnets mainly include soft magnetic cores and silicon steel plates. Soft magnets are widely used as channels for magnetic lines of force, that is, as conductive materials. For example, transformers, sensor cores, magnetic shields, switching power supplies, displays, filters, special magnetic circuit yokes, etc.
3. What is the main hard magnet? Main application area?
Hard magnets are mainly materials such as AlNiCo, Samarium Cobalt, NdFeB, and iron oxide. Mainly used in electrical machinery, electrical appliances, electronics, medical equipment, aerospace, smart home and other fields.
4. What is the difference between a soft magnet and a hard (permanent) magnet?
1. Different names. Hard magnets are usually called permanent magnets, and soft magnets are called magnetic cores.
2. The difference between remanence. Hard magnetism has remanence, soft magnetism has little remanence.
3. The difference in usage. After turning off the power of the soft magnet, the magnetic force will disappear immediately. After the hard magnetic material is powered off, part of the magnetism will remain, the iron core will become a magnetic field, and the magnetic field may change its direction. In this way, the transformer becomes a generator. Electrical appliances can cause damage. Therefore, this is the reason why power transformers use soft magnets instead of hard magnets.
